Refunds, Returns & Exchanges, Cancellations and Postponements, Rescheduling

TDT Safety Training and cbHansonCMV are invested in your success and want all of our students to be happy with their training.  As such we do have to let you know about some policies related to refunds, returns and exchanges.

As a general rule, we do not offer any refunds once an instructor has begun training students.  That being said, we understand that situations occur where students get sick, an event requires that students be assigned elsewhere, and other things that occur beyond anyone's control.  Our goal is to ensure that our students succeed.

We do not sell widgets, sprockets, or other tangible items, we sell access to information, knowledge, and our experience.  Therefore we will not offer any returns or exchanges on classes for any reason.

Our business requires significant costs that are unseen to the student and the general public.  As such when a student is a no-show for a class, a business cancels a training, or other difficulties arise, we often are left with nothing to do.  Therefore we require that all cancellations (short of actual declared weather or emergency events) be given a minimum of 7 days prior to the first day of the class.  For example, if a class is scheduled to start on a Monday the 14th Day, We require a cancellation notice at the absolute latest on Sunday the 6th.

We'd prefer to reschedule your training event as long as we receive sufficient notice.  We are willing to work with anyone on these issues.  Rescheduled classes or training must be completed within 180 days of the initial training dates scheduled.  After that, 180 days we will not provide any further refunds, exchanges, or changes to classes and all monies paid will be kept accordingly.

Please see the following notes regarding group training, online training, and behind-the-wheel training.

Group Training

All group training date changes or cancellations must be given a minimum of 7 days prior to the first day of the class.  Therefore if the class is on the 14th, we would need to know about the change no later than the end of business on the 6th.  If a class is canceled for any reason that isn't weather related (as in dangerous conditions, not just a rainy day) or a declared emergency event (flood, natural phenomena, civil unrest, war, acts of God, etc) then TDT reserves the right to retain any monies already paid by card or check and will not provide any refund to the payor.  If the cancellation occurs within the 7-day window, we may reschedule the training event for an additional charge not to exceed 30% of the original amount paid in addition to the total amount of the class and any monies already paid.

Online Training

Our training portal provider has a zero return, zero refund policy once an online class is started.  Therefore when we at TDT Safety Training ask questions about which training you need or want to take, we are doing it so that we can get you the right training on the right portal at the right time.

Online classes have a zero return, refund, or exchange policy.  We may be able to work with you if you have a bonafide technical issue that we cannot resolve easily, but this is only on a case-by-case basis.

Behind the Wheel

Our Behind the Wheel instructors are professionals that work in the transportation or trucking industry and often have part-time or full-time jobs outside of providing the Behind the Wheel Training and Feedback program to students.  Therefore we require a minimum of 2 days' (48 hours) notice to cancel a behind-the-wheel session.

Please note we are open to rescheduling your Behind the Wheel training, however, our system is set up such that if a student misses for whatever reason, they go to the bottom of the list and the open training time is offered to a wait-listed individual or others that have future appointments.  Once booked for a Behind the Wheel training session we ask that students plan their outside lives around that particular 3 or 6 hour driving practice session.

We will not offer any refunds on paid Behind the Wheel training time as TDT Safety Training schedules our instructors and facilitators many weeks in advance to ensure we have vehicles available when needed and the right instructor or facilitator for the type of training needed.

Failure to Complete Training due to Drug or Alcohol Testing or other Disqualification

The programs that we operate is under a license issued by the State of Minnesota and the registration and permission of the United States Federal Government.  As such, the use of legal or illegal drugs or any amount of alcohol while operating vehicles (whether owned, leased, or loaned to TDT or an employer/employee's own vehicle) or attending classes or events that are sponsored by TDT Safety Training is strictly prohibited.

Please Refer to the drug and alcohol testing requirement section for further information about the exact policy and procedures related to that process.

If TDT staff have a reasonable suspicious or receive word from a reliable source that an individual in our program is using illegal drugs, or maybe under the influence of drugs or alcohol while attending any event that is sponsored by TDT Safety Training or has provided false, inaccurate or incorrect information related to their drug and alcohol usage and habits, we reserve the right to terminate the individual's contract for service.  We will require that the individual take a DOT reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol test (which must be completed within the statutory hour limit) under TDT's current C/TPA process or consortium.

Failure (including a refusal) of any DOT drug or alcohol test is reported to the Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse maintained by the FMCSA and may result in forfeiture of a license, failure to renew commercial driving privileges, full notification to the individual's current employer (if safety sensitive and DOT regulated)

Individuals that fail a DOT drug test (from our C/TPA and consortium lab), whether it is a random test, reasonable suspicion test, pre-employment/pre-education test, or for other reasons will be immediately suspended from our program.  An individual that refuses a test will be reported as a refusal and will be immediately expelled from our program.

An individual that is suspended from our program under a drug or alcohol issue charge will have a single opportunity to rectify the situation by going through a Return to Work process specified under FMCSA rules at their own expense.  This process must be completed within 60 days or less based on state and federal statutes.

If an individual is suspended from our program and chooses not to rectify their situation within 60 days will forfeit any money paid to TDT Safety Training for classes, online access, or behind-the-wheel training.  If an individual is expelled from our program for any reason, no refund will be given and all monies paid to TDT Safety Training will be forfeited immediately

Other situations that may result in disqualification or discharge from our program include:

- Willful negligence, dangerous driving behaviors or other behaviors that are unsafe and unacceptable.

- Repeated Missed Scheduled appointments

- Repeated Tardy / Late arrival to appointments

- Student Code of Conduct Violations

- Inappropriate conversations by email, text, phone or in person that are not related to learning

- Bizzare, unusual, unpredictable, or strange behaviors that are not conducive to a learning environment

- Failing to follow mandatory directives from a supervising driver/instructor

- Failing to thrive after multiple lessons as documented by the instructor or supervising driver

- Failure to demonstrate good judgement with regards to one's behavior in public or private
